The Wittenberg University Department of Theatre and Dance presents its first mainstage production of the 2015 spring semester, Fuddy Meers, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 26-28, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, in Chakeres Memorial Theatre, 905 Woodlawn Ave.
Directed by Assistant Professor Patrick Kilby Reynolds and Assistant Director Hannah Yalaz β15, Fuddy Meers is a comedy by Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay-Abaire. The play follows Claire, who has a rare form of amnesia that erases her memory when she sleeps. One morning she wakes to a strange assortment of new faces: a limping man in a ski mask, a dimwitted thug whose best friend is a hand puppet and a claustrophobic traffic cop. Every twist and turn in this funhouse plot bring Claire closer to revealing her past life and everything she thought she'd forgotten.
βEvery rehearsal, Iβm impressed by the ability of our actors to take a character they've read for and analyzed and to make discoveries onstage,β Yalaz said. βThe show is funny and absurd and truly unique to this cast. Fuddy is a slapstick comedy that still holds weightβthe characters are dealing with their own very real issues.β
